Energy is the ability to allows things to move, grow, or transform. In its simplest form, energy is what makes everything happen, from powering machines to allowing living organisms to function. It’s a fundamental part of nature, constantly flowing and changing, but never being lost or created, just transferred or transformed. In everyday life, energy is what powers everything from your phone to the food you eat.
What is renewable energy?
Renewable energy comes from natural resources that replenish themselves after some time, such as sunlight, wind, water, and biomass. Unlike fossil fuels, which are exhaustible and cause pollution, renewable energy sources are cleaner and more eco-friendly.
Most Common Types of Renewable Energy:
Solar Energy – Obtained from sunlight with the assistance of solar panels.
Wind Energy – Obtained from wind turbines that convert wind into electricity.
Hydropower – Harnesses moving water, e.g., rivers or dams, to generate power.
Biomass Energy – Derived from biological matter like wood, plants, and wastes.
Geothermal Energy – Leverages the Earth’s internal heat.
Renewable energy plays a crucial role in lower emmisions of greenhouse gasses and global warming. It also guarantees energy security and creates jobs in green industries.
Currently only wind energy is not applicable to cambodia’s landscape due to low wind speeds, unfavorable geography, higher cost, lower efficiency and more preference to hydro and solarpower.
